Jennifer Springer

Jennifer Springer is a former Knox County Probate/Juvenile Judge with over two decades of extensive legal experience. She started her career as a Legal Aid Attorney, assisting clients in all matters in domestic relations and juvenile court. She also acted as a Guardian ad Litem in the central Ohio area. Jennifer then spent almost nine years as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Knox County, prosecuting major felony cases on behalf of the State of Ohio. She worked in private practice prior to winning her campaign for Probate/Juvenile Judge, focusing on family law. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio and the United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio, and has practiced in many courts across central Ohio, the Fifth District Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Lorenz v. McDonald | Civil Protection Order Case | Ocober 2023

Issuance of a civil protection order against petitioner’s former boyfriend for continuing unwanted contact after termination of relationship was error where respondent never physically assaulted petitioner or threatened her with physical harm, petitioner did not claim that she suffered mental distress or feared for her safety, R.C. 2903.211, and petitioner’s desire to terminate all contact with former boyfriend was not sufficient grounds for a protection order, R.C. 3113.31.
